The Dubai Scholars Environmental Public Speaking Competition took place in May of
2018 as a mock trial/preparation for The Emirates Environmental Group Competition
that our school couldn't participate in due to overlapping of schedules.
Nonetheless, it was useful and important to have this competition. It was a true test of
not only public speaking but collaborative team efforts, dedication, skit presentation and
overall performance.

There were 4 teams from Year 9 and 5 teams from year 8, all the teams presented
gracefully and with great passion the 4 topics at hand. They spoke with confidence and had 8 minutes overall. However, since none of the teams reached the expected scores for the ‘first’ position in year 9, the team consisting of Shania 9C, Alizeh 9A, Simran 9A, Sara 9C, Mishita 9A secured the second position and the team consisting Lamya 9C, Bisha 9B, Daniel 9B, Madhushri 9B, Ishrat 9B secured the third position. |
From year 8, none of the teams received scoring with first or second position and
therefore had only a third position which the group consisting Mohammed (8B),
Zahabiya(8B), Kushi(8B) bagged.
The results were first announced two days after the competition but the certificates were
given on the 20th of May by Mr. Scarcelli, the head of school.
Some teachers were also present there, representing the Humanities Department
(Ms. Smriti, Mr. Jeoffrey, Ms. Noor), Islamic Department (Ms. Farhana), Maths department
(Ms. Lydia), English department (Ms. Joretta)

Overall, as a participant myself, it was safe to say that this competition was very
interesting to participate in. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, learnt a lot and I am excited for
our schools’ participation in the next year’s Emirates Environmental Group Competition.
